Hello!

Welcome to the blog!

I hope it's a place you will find inspiration and positive words.

Who am I, really?

Honestly? I’m a 5’8 fuzzy-haired tea drinker who wants to encourage others. I also eat way too many carbs, read a lot, and love pretty things.

I don’t have all the answers. But I want anyone who suffers from the pressures of anxiety and adulting to know they are not alone.

I have a graduate degree that specializes in academic writing, but my passion is more informal writing, including blogging.

Why a blog?

I want more positive, helpful words "out there" about adulting and aging and anxiety. So, I share my personal stories. I share my favorite thoughts.

Many people can’t commit to a long book, but they will read a blog post.  And sometimes that’s all we really need to keep going in life: short paragraphs of encouragement we can absorb along with our morning tea or coffee.

I adore words. And I hope to come alongside you via this blog, offer comfort, and let you know you are not fighting your battles alone. Even if your battles aren’t the same as mine.

Why the name Love, Auntie?

Short answer: I am a proud Auntie to my biological nieces and nephews. I’m also “Auntie” to other children who are not physically related to me. It’s an honor and a joy.

Long answer: I chose the name Love, Auntie for my blog because I am speaking to anyone who needs encouragement while facing another day. “Auntie” to me is a term of endearment, and although I may not be physically related to you, my reader, we are related by our common struggles, desires, and need for one another as we get older.

What’s my story with anxiety?

Short answer: I started experiencing intense anxiety as an undergraduate in college, and I’ve been fighting it ever since.

Long answer: My journey has been messy and complicated. I’ve had the intense physical and emotional pain that made me think I was dying. I’ve visited more doctors and therapists than I care to share. I’ve been on multiple medications. I’ve read countless self-help texts. In essence, I could compose very long books about what I’ve gone through, but no one would want to read them, including me! So, I’ll spare you more details and add this:  I’m not yet where I’d like to be (completely free of anxiety), but I’ve had many victories.

I can’t solve all my problems or your problems, but I can compose text. I adore words. And I hope to come alongside you via this blog, offer comfort, and let you know you are not fighting your battles alone. Even if your battles aren’t the same as mine.

What are my anchors?

In no special order: Cuddling a cat. My loved ones. Exercise. Deep breathing. My faith. Tea. Finding beauty in the world. A warm shower.

Words are also very much my anchors.
